Career Coaching...What is it??

Career Coaching is like coaching a sport. Just as a coach guides his players, the career coach is there to teach clients the skills to achieve their ultimate goals. I will use specifics strategies, including a proven 12 step program, to help you discover what you want in a career and how to achieve it.

It is an interactive process of exploring work- related issues,  leading to effective action- in which the coach acts as a catalyst and facilitator.  Career Coaches connect people with their passion, purpose, values and other critical aspects of their ideal work.

WRITING AND CRITIQUING YOUR RESUME: PART 2
Resume writing is tricky and evaluating your own resume to represent yourself the best way possible is even trickier. Part 1 of this series included tools and tips on how to write your resume. Next, is evaluating the resume and making sure it is presenting your skills in the best light possible. You know what you want to say and what your background includes but the question is, “Are you portraying this information clearly to an employer?” Before I begin writing a client’s resume, I first ask them to send me the current resume that they are using. I review the resume and assess the skills and information to see what my client is trying to reveal to an employer. I ask myself different questions and see if the resume answers. Below are the steps and questions that should be asked.

WRITING AND CRITIQUING YOUR RESUME: PART 1
If you have been reading my articles, the one thing that I continuously state is that writing a resume is not easy. Few things are more intimidating and overwhelming than trying to summarize your life’s experience on paper in a professional, marketable manner. This one sheet of paper needs to have the perfect words and skills presented to say, “Hey, I’m the perfect candidate for this position. Hire me!” Evaluating your skills and experience and figuring out what the employer wants to see is difficult. Hiring a professional resume writer would be my first recommendation since an outsider’s perspective is key. Professional resume writers have the ability to ask questions that will allow revisions to be easier as well as provide feedback and tips on the most current trends and information.  If hiring a professional is not currently in your budget, here are a few ideas that will make your resume transformation less discouraging and less time consuming.
